After a year of remote learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic, one elementary school class on Molokai came together to name an endangered Hawaiian monk seal. Media Evolve participated in this project in collaboration with Hawaii Marine Animal Response and Molokai’s Kualapu’u Charter School. Thank you to our friends on Molokai including Todd Yamashita for sending us the footage and to the amazing Kumu Loke Han for shaping the hearts and minds of the next generation of environmental stewards.
Womens Dive Day
Media Evolve joined Aaron's Dive Shop in Kailua for an all-female dive at North Shore on PADI's International Women's Dive Day. The turnout was so large they split divers into two groups for logistical ease. It was powerful to see so many women come together for the occasion… the energy and excitement was inspiring!
This video premiered for Ko Olina's annual World Ocean Day celebration in June 2021. The theme for the event was "generations" - how we must pass our "kuleana," or responsibility, of ocean stewardship along to the next generation. We worked in partnership with Hawaii Marine Animal Response, and footage was sent to us by HMAR's Todd Yamashita from Moloka'i. Media Evolve wove the material together to tell the heartwarming story of Todd's children and their personal message for kuleana.
