In Their Shoes | Welcome Home LT Jay Manown
In Their Shoes tells the powerful story of three women, each the closest living relative of a WWII Avenger crew member lost for over eight decades after being shot down in enemy territory. Through the efforts of Project Recover, a nonprofit dedicated to repatriating missing service members, the plane and its crew are finally brought home. Stepping into the shoes of their grandmothers, the three nieces honor these young men and meet for the first time at the memorial of LT Jay Ross Manown, the last crew member to return home. Together, they weave a narrative that bridges past and present, offering a moving testament to the bonds that endure across time and loss.

Media Evolve participated in this project in collaboration with Hawaii Marine Animal Response and Molokai’s Kualapu’u Charter School. Thank you to our friends on Molokai including Todd Yamashita for sending us the footage and to the amazing Kumu Loke Han for shaping the hearts and minds of the next generation of environmental stewards.

Our Kuleana
This video premiered for Ko Olina's annual World Ocean Day celebration in June 2021. The theme for the event was "generations" - how we must pass our "kuleana," or responsibility, of ocean stewardship along to the next generation. We worked in partnership with Hawaii Marine Animal Response, and footage was sent to us by HMAR's Todd Yamashita from Moloka'i. Media Evolve wove the material together to tell the heartwarming story of Todd's children and their personal message for kuleana.

Womens Dive Day
Media Evolve joined Aaron's Dive Shop in Kailua for an all-female dive at North Shore on PADI's International Women's Dive Day. The turnout was so large they split divers into two groups for logistical ease. It was powerful to see so many women come together for the occasion… the energy and excitement was inspiring!

The Trench: Deep Dive North Shore
Join us as we explore The Trench, a deep dive site in Oahu's North Shore. Dredged by the U.S. military during WWII to hide submarines, the depth here slowly gains to about 15 feet before dropping off suddenly to about 90 feet. The area is frequented by a variety of marine life, including green sea turtles.

Fishing Debris Bins
Around Oahu Hawaii Marine Animal Response is installing debris bins in an effort to reduce the amount of abandoned fishing debris and offer fishermen a way to recycle their equipment. Fishing line is a huge contributor to amputations, infections, and death in a variety of marine wildlife including Hawaiian monk seals, sea turtles, and seabirds.
